ANDOVER — A two-alarm fire damaged a home on Saturday morning and drew a large response from several fire departments across the Merrimack Valley.
According to Andover Fire Rescue, firefighters were dispatched shortly after 9 a.m. to a reported garage fire at a home at 98 Bellevue Road.
On arrival, fire crews found heavy smoke billowing from the garage and first floor of a large two-and-a-half story wood-frame home. A second alarm was sounded immediately.
North Andover Fire Department Engine 2 provided mutual aid along with emergency responders from Lawrence, Wilmington, Methuen, Tewksbury and others to help knock down the blaze.
Multiple hose lines were stretched into the house to extinguish the fire, although firefighters remained on scene into the afternoon to put out any hot spots in the building. Andover Fire reported no injuries to the residents or firefighters.
Fire damage could be seen on the exterior of the garage-side of the building. By the afternoon, fire engines and other responder vehicles began clearing from the scene. Roadblocks were placed along Bellevue Road throughout to slow incoming traffic through the neighborhood.
