Members of the 127 Senior Center will have no regular meetings for the next two weeks, as they will be participating in the 127 Corridor Sale. Members have been planning all year and are excited to begin selling the donations they have been collecting. The 127 Corridor Sale is the biggest fundraiser for the center, which relies on fundraisers and membership dues ($15 per year) to keep the center up and running. There are many Corridor Sale enthusiasts who love to make the 127 Seniors a regular stop on their buying trips, and the members hope many shoppers here in Crossville will stop by, too.
The fun starts early on the first day — Thursday, Aug. 1, at 7 a.m. There will be lots of great deals and breakfast available for purchase from 7-10 a.m. The center offers a comfortable, air-conditioned building with restrooms for your shopping pleasure. Lunch will be available for purchase from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition to the great bargains, there will be a bake sale, and an opportunity drawing will take place for a beautiful quilt pieced by member Shirley Thomson.
Membership to the 127 Senior Center is open to all in the community, aged 50 or older. The members have regular meetings on Friday mornings, with bingo starting at 9:30. After bingo, there is a short meeting and then entertainment, followed by lunch available for purchase by the members for $5. At the last meeting, the members were entertained by Eric Duncan and Teresa Hanna, singing lots of old favorite tunes including some Patsy Cline and Neil Diamond songs. The group is actually a foursome, with Eric’s wife Diana running the sound and Teresa’s husband Terry emceeing. The members enjoyed clapping and singing along. The group likes to perform at retirement facilities and enjoy bringing musical fun to the residents. Give Eric a call at 931-248-0074 if you know of a facility that would like to have them come and sing.
