If you are 50 years of age or older, the 127 Senior Center invites you to come join the fun and become a member. Dues are $15 for the whole year. The Friday morning meetings start with the doors opening at 8 a.m. for coffee and fellowship, games, or just chatting and catching up with old friends and making new ones. Visitors are greeted by two of the friendliest ladies you will ever meet — Diane and Betty, and they will fill you in on everything you need to know about the center, and then introduce you to some new friends.
Bingo fun starts at 9:30. The members wish to thank Chuck and Sharon Elgin for sponsoring bingo prizes at the last meeting.
After bingo, President Arlene Simmons presides over a short meeting to let the members know of upcoming events. Members are encouraged to make announcements or tell jokes, and member Leonard Hollender can always be counted on to share a joke that gets a big laugh!
After the meeting, the entertainment starts, which is either musical entertainment or a speaker sharing helpful information for seniors. At the last meeting, the members were entertained by Gene Brown, Jane Ann and Johnny Blankenship. These three very talented musicians also perform at the center on Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m., along with many other talented musicians, and the community is invited — no membership required.
Every week a delicious lunch is served which members can purchase for $5, prepared by volunteers who love to cook for crowds. Call the center at 931-484-2547 for more information or just come see us next Friday morning!
