The Norman Transcript seeks an experienced editor for our top newsroom leadership position in one of Oklahoma’s newsiest communities and home to the University of Oklahoma. The editor is responsible for news and editorial content for our seven-day, 10,000-circulation newspaper and related digital platforms.

Candidates need a progressive management background, critical thinking skills and proven ability to coach reporters and editors in reporting, writing, photography and digital journalism. We prize aggressive local news and sports coverage in print and online.

The editor directs a staff of 13 full-time journalists. The editor is also a key member of the senior management team and has a strong voice in strategic initiatives undertaken by the newspaper.

Norman is 20 miles south of Oklahoma City and has been rated by CNN’s Money magazine as one of the best small cities in America. It features a progressive public school system, an internationally recognized university, the National Weather Center, a vibrant economy, and many recreational and cultural activities.
