Rep. Mark Lepak, R-Claremore, was recently appointed to the Fiscal Affairs & Government Operations Committee for the Council of State Governments (CSG).
"I'm honored to have been appointed to serve in this important role," Lepak said. "People want government that works efficiently and works well, spending their tax dollars wisely on basic priorities. Good stewardship is also mindful that too much regulation works against those goals.”
Lepak was appointed by House Speaker Charles McCall, R-Atoka. Lepak is also the Chair of the Oklahoma House Banking, Financial Services and Pensions Committee.
CSG is the nation's largest nonpartisan organization serving all three branches of state elected and appointed officials. The Fiscal Affairs & Government Operations Committee operates as a part of CSG's Southern Legislative Conference (SLC).
Since its creation, members of the SLC Fiscal Affairs & Government Operations Committee have focused on myriad fiscal issues impacting state budgets and finances. Committee appointees include many of the finance and appropriations chairs from across the South, alongside others with fiscal expertise.
Oklahoma City will host the 76th Annual CSG Southern Legislative Conference in July.
“The Southern Legislative Conference of CSG provides an opportunity to interact with legislators from other states in our region to bring good ideas home and to tell others about what Oklahoma is getting right," he said.
Lepak was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in Nov. 2014 after a 37 year career in telecommunications with Southwestern Bell Telephone and Bell Communications Research, with previous public service on the Moore School Board and Claremore City Council.
