Crews work on spreading concrete on State Highway 20, also known as Patti Page Boulevard.

Construction on State Highway 20 is about 70 percent complete with an anticipated completion in the late summer.

“We’re pleased that work on Highway 20 has been progressing smoothly,” Oklahoma Department Of Transportation Public Information Officer T.J. Gerlach said.

The $4.6 million project was awarded to C3 Construction in March of 2021 and began after the July 4 weekend. The project was halted in April due to safety concerns after construction crews hit a gas line three times and found gas lines in two other areas. Construction started again around the end of November in 2021.

Gerlach said the remaining work is the continued replacement of the old concrete with new pavement.

“As usual throughout this project, we truly appreciate the Claremore community’s patience,” Gerlach said. “We look forward to providing Claremore residents and visitors with a smooth road that will require minimal maintenance for many years to come.”

Gerlach said either Normal or Nome Avenue will be closed as the construction project continues to move east.

“The contractor will come back to work on any intersections that they skipped as they near completion of the project,” he said.
