The Tifton Gazette seeks an editor to lead its award winning editorial team.

Our editor must have a thorough knowledge of reporting news and information for print and digital platforms. In addition to leading the editorial staff, the editor is responsible for reporting and writing. A knowledge of journalism ethics, libel and privacy standards, and public records laws are a must. We expect our editor to be passionate about creating the best multi-media outlet of interesting, authoritative and local news and information.

Our editor must embrace the fact that today’s newsroom operates 24/7, with frequent website and social media updates. Applicants should have a newspaper management background that includes working with other departments to maximize advertising and circulation sales opportunities. Other key attributes include communication, time management, core journalism skills, the ability to train and the willingness to become part of an active community.

The Tifton Gazette covers a community of more than 40,000 people.

Known as the “Friendly City,” Tifton is located in South Georgia off Interstate 75, U.S. Highway 41. Tifton is a progressive city and was the 9th fastest growing micro area in the United States from April 2010 to July 2011, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
