The Independent seeks an energetic newspaper professional, with a proven track record, to lead its audience and distribution team.
The Independent is a seven-day newspaper with a circulation of 14,000 and a website that produces 750,000 page views from 140,000 unique monthly visitors. In addition, we publish the weekly Greenup County News-Times, community magazines, digital products and numerous specialty publications.
Our director will oversee all aspects of marketing and distribution, including home delivery, single copy, digital subscriptions, niche products, and sales and retention for the daily newspaper. This individual must lead by example, set benchmarks and build our coverage.
The director is an integral member of The Independent senior leadership team, with a voice in strategic initiatives. Exemplary leadership, organizational and communication skills are vital for this role. Above all, our director must possess a creative approach to audience development and an unwavering commitment to customer service.
Candidates should have at least three years of audience development and sales experience, as well as an understanding of contractor relationships. The director must be familiar with the latest AAM guidelines, formally known as ABC, and have a working knowledge of computer software, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
This position requires use of a personal vehicle, so an acceptable driving record and current driver’s license are required. Pre-employment criminal background and credit checks are also required.
