CUMBERLAND, Md. -- Robin L. Quillon, a veteran newspaper executive, has been appointed publisher of the Cumberland Times-News, effective immediately.
The announcement was made by Steve McPhaul, chief operating officer of Community Newspaper Holdings, Inc., the paper’s parent corporation.
Quillon is currently the publisher of the Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Tribune-Democrat and a regional executive for CNHI. He will continue in those roles, said McPhaul.
“Robin is already quite familiar with the Cumberland market through his regional responsibilities,” said McPhaul. “In his publisher role, he can now dedicate even more time and creativity to making The Times-News increasingly vital to residents of western Maryland and the Potomac Highlands of West Virginia.”
Quillon said he looks forward to working closely with the paper’s staff - and the communities and advertisers served by The Times-News - in providing useful information and services that readers and advertisers want and need in today’s digital era.
“Newspapers have been my world for more than 30 years,” said Quillon. “There’s never been a more exciting time than at present because of the multiple platforms on which we can present information in both print and online.”
The Times-News is a seven-day newspaper serving the City of Cumberland and the surrounding areas of Allegany and Garrett counties in Maryland, and Mineral County in West Virginia. More than 100,000 people populate the two-state region.
The Cumberland Times News is a CNHI newspaper. Based in Montgomery, Alabama, CNHI is a leading publisher of local news and information. Its newspapers, websites and specialty publications serve communities in 23 states.
