NORMAN, Okla. — Beau Simmons has been named editor of the Norman (Okla.) Transcript.
Simmons was the news editor at the Transcript under Andy Rieger from 2011-15. He remains editor of the Stillwater News Press.
A native of Salina, Oklahoma, Simmons began his journalism career in 2002 as a general assignment reporter in Pryor. From there, he worked for Durant Democrat as a sports editor before joining The Transcript.
“Beau is a quality journalist who understands the importance of community journalism. With deep roots in the state and familiarity with Norman, he is an excellent fit to lead The Transcript newsroom, build strong community connections and provide the kind of local coverage readers expect,” said Jim Zachary, director of newsroom standards and practice for CNHI, the parent company of the Transcript.
“I loved my time at Norman and am really excited about helping lead the news coverage again,” Simmons said. “Norman is a great community with a lot of great stories to tell and a really engaged readership.”
