The Tribune-Star in Terre Haute, Ind., seeks an energetic newspaper professional who is proven in sales and management to lead its circulation team.
The Tribune-Star is a seven-day newspaper with a circulation of 24,000. In addition, we publish a weekly TMC, replica E-edition, local news website and various niche publications including a successful magazine.
Our circulation director will lead a staff of 22 in growing readership and revenue in a competitive market. We expect someone who will design and implement marketing strategies that build home delivery and single-copy sales. This person will manage all aspects of subscription fulfillment and renewal; promotional activities; distribution systems; and circulation metrics. The circulation director must be familiar with the latest AAM – formerly ABC – rules and guidelines. This individual must lead by example, set benchmarks and build our coverage.
Candidates should have a circulation management background that includes budgeting and developing business strategy. We expect someone with a record of meeting revenue targets and effective expense management. Also essential are strong organizational, communication and leadership skills. Above all, our circulation director must possess a creative approach to circulation and audience development, and an unwavering commitment to customer service.
Located in southwestern Indiana, Terre Haute is a community of 58,000 and a regional retail hub. The area is home to five colleges including Indiana State University and offers a range of recreational activities. Known as “Cross Country Town USA,” Terre Haute’s attractions include the Lavern Gibson Cross Country Course and was the site of the 2011 Division I and Division III national cross country championships.
