Our publisher/advertising director must be knowledgeable about all newspaper departments and inspire quality performance from our team.
We expect someone who understands the importance of strong journalism, community building and digital innovation. This person must have demonstrated success in driving print and online revenue, and possess the ability to create and execute a multiplatform sales strategy that covers print, niche publications, websites and mobile products.
Candidates must have results-oriented newspaper publisher experience. We expect someone who can nurture a culture of teamwork, superior customer service and journalism excellence. Exceptional leadership, organizational and communication skills are vital for this role.
The Meridian Star is a 6,000-circulation, five-day newspaper in east central Mississippi. In addition to the newspaper, we publish a bimonthly magazine, a weekly TMC product and a website, www.meridianstar.com.
Meridian has been called the Strategic Center of the South and is a regional hub for manufacturing and health care. The area boasts the Mississippi Arts & Entertainment Experience, which is a new $50 million facility featuring authors, entertainers, musicians and artists with Mississippi connections. The city has two military installations, including a naval air station and Key Field, which is home to an Air National Guard wing. Meridian also offers a campus of Mississippi State University and attractions, including the Riley Center, a theater, an art museum, a symphony orchestra and the Dentzel Carousel, which dates to 1896.
