CNHI Oklahoma newspapers garner high honors!



Oklahoma Press Association and Society of Professional Journalists awarded top state honors to Community Newspaper Holdings, Inc., newspapers across the state. CNHI-owned newspapers were Sequoyah Award winners for 2006 work in three Oklahoma Press Association divisions, with The Norman Transcript earning the top award among newspapers with circulation above 9,000. The Duncan Banner won the Sequoyah in Division Two and Waurika News-Democrat was Sequoyah Award winner in Division Seven.

The Norman Transcript won first in layout and design, feature writing and sports coverage; second in community leadership; third in sales promotion and fourth in advertising, in-depth enterprise and personal columns.

Also in Division one, Muskogee Phoenix placed first in news content and third in editorial comment, feature writing, sports coverage, photography and community leadership.

The Edmond Sun placed first in news writing and photography, second in news content and sales promotion, third in personal columns and fourth in editorial comment and community leadership.

McAlester News-Capital won first place in editorial comment; second in in-depth enterprise, third place in layout and design and fourth in news writing.

Enid News & Eagle was first in sales promotion and personal columns, third for in-depth enterprise and fourth in sports coverage.

Stillwater NewsPress won second in personal columns and news writing and fourth in feature writing and photography.

In Division Two, The Duncan Banner won first in news content, advertising, personal columns, feature writing and sports coverage; second in layout and design; third in photography and fourth for in-depth enterprise and community leadership.
