Muskogee man undergoes surgery after being stabbed

By Donna Hales
Phoenix Staff Writer

A Muskogee man was hospitalized and expected to undergo one or more surgeries after being stabbed Monday, police said.

The stabbing victim, Bobby Allen Graves, 31, was standing at the door of a residence talking to a woman in the 1100 block of Ash Street when he was attacked around 10 a.m., said Police Lt. Bobby Lee.

The man suspected of stabbing Graves, Dean McCog, was pushing a bicycle in the area before the stabbing occurred, Lee said.

“The two had a verbal argument before the stabbing took place,” Lee said. “Graves was stabbed in the back and arm. He will not be released from the hospital today.

“We (police) were told he’s got some pretty extensive injuries that will most likely require surgeries.”

Police Officer Tim Sands arrested the man suspected in the stabbing several blocks away from where the stabbing occurred, Lee said.

McCog, 34, was pushing his bike when arrested, Lee said.

McCog is being held without bond in the Muskogee County/City Detention Facility, jail personnel said.

The woman Graves was speaking to when attacked drove Graves to Muskogee Regional Medical Center, police said.

“There were conflicting stories about what the argument (between Graves and McCog) was about,” Lee said. “There is testimony from other people that they’ve had an ongoing problem for quite awhile now.”

McCog was arrested on a complaint of assault with a dangerous weapon, a knife, Lee said.
