Work is progressing on school bond projects, activities and initiatives

Parent information

We have had a few tremendous opportunities to provide information and communication to our parents. Our College Day was a great success a few weeks ago. Thanks to all of you who took the time to come and see what our colleges have to offer! I also had positive comments regarding our Parent Teacher Conferences. Thank you, parents, for your support of our school and your child.

A great tool for parents is our online grading and lesson plan site. Parents can get a password from their child’s school site, go to our Web site, and view current grades, attendance and lesson plans!

Bond issue

Our school received the bond issue money in late July and have been working to ensure the multipurpose building plans will stay within budget. This major project will go out for bid in the next few weeks.

A reminder of the main projects of the bond issue are:

• A multipurpose classroom/pe room/safe room for Intermediate Elementary (the safe room will serve ELC, as well).

• A new middle school roof, a student center/cafeteria wing for the high school, and an expansion of our wrestling practice area above the old gym.

• Technology and various renovations will also be addressed once the main projects are completed within budget.

• Besides these projects we also passed a transportation bond to purchase buses. Our new activity bus has been greatly appreciated by our kids.

It is important that everyone know the status of the projects and the fact that the bond is set up to keep taxes at the level they are now. Our community has long supported our schools and we have a great advantage since our local power plant covers much of our tax burden. Please know that these bond plans have been carefully developed thru the work of a three year committee of our townspeople who have utilized community and staff input.

Activities

The band competed well recently in the regional marching contest and our football teams and cheerleaders are representing our school very well.
