WEATHERFORD, Texas -- Lisa Chappell, a veteran Texas newspaper executive, has been appointed publisher of the Weatherford Democrat and the Mineral Wells Index. She replaces Jeff Smith, who recently retired.
Chappell is currently the publisher of the Gainesville Daily Register and the Greenville Herald-Banner, and their affiliated weekly publications in Royse City, Commerce and Rockwall County. She will continue in that role as well.
Steve McPhaul, chief operating officer of CNHI LLC, the newspapers’ parent company, said Chappell’s experience in newspaper management and advertising sales over the years make her a good fit for the expanded publisher role.
“Lisa has the leadership qualities, the motivational skills and the proven record to continue to move the Weatherford Democrat and the Mineral Wells Index forward in print and online,” said McPhaul. “She will have a positive impact on the employees of the papers and the communities they serve.”
Chappell joined CNHI LLC in 2003 as an advertising account executive for Herald-Banner Publications. She was appointed advertising director in 2005 and publisher in 2007. In 2015, she took on the additional management of the Gainesville newspaper and was named regional sales director for the North Texas group in 2016.
“I am excited and honored with this opportunity,” said Chappell. “And I look forward to working closely with the staff of the Democrat and the Index in providing content readers and advertisers want and value.”
The Weatherford Democrat and Mineral Wells Index are CNHI LLC newspapers. Based in Montgomery, Alabama, CNHI LLC is a leading publisher of local news and information. Its newspapers, websites and specialty publications serve communities in 22 states.
