Business Manager
Position Overview
The essential functions of this position are to forecast, report and analyze the status of the Times West Virginian’s financial performance, ensure that internal controls exist and are designed to effectively safeguard the company’s assets, handle all human resource functions, and uphold all company policies while exhibiting an exemplary standard for the business office. This position also serves as a liaison between our location and CNHI corporate accounting personnel.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
1. Prepare month end journal entries and reconciliations.
2. Generate all monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for the Publisher and other location management.
3. Prepare the company’s annual budget with assistance from department heads and Publisher
4. Complete financial projections and variance reports.
5. Oversee and direct accounting staff in day to day duties and complete timely reviews of the staff.
6. Maintain credit policies to ensure the company’s receivables are within acceptable levels working closely with both the Advertising Director and the Circulation Director.
7. Maintain necessary financial and payroll records based on CNHI standards.
8. Ensure weekly accounts payable invoices and biweekly payroll is processed and all benefit related items are addressed on a timely basis.
9. Provide requested data and analyses as requested by the Publisher or executive management.
10. Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures in the daily operation and functions of the accounting department as outlined in the CNHI Employee Handbook and the CNHI Accounting Policies and Procedures Manual.
11. Responsible for HR management.
